Petrol-engined A-Class saloon models have a 405-litre boot, which is 10 litres up on the diesel versions. Due to where the battery sits in plug-in hybrid A250e models, these cars get a 345-litre boot.

Measuring 4,549mm long, the A-Class saloon is 130mm longer than the hatchback and just over 50mm longer than the Audi A3 saloon. The A-Class saloon is 1,992mm wide and 1,446mm tall.

The A180 and A200 petrols use a 1.3-litre engine with 136hp and 163hp respectively, while the comparatively rare A250 petrol uses a 224hp 2.0-litre engine. That's 6hp more than the total output of the A250e hybrid. Mercedes' 2.0-litre diesel produces 116hp in the A180d and 150hp in the A200d. The most powerful A-Class saloon is the AMG A35, with a huge 306hp.
